5 points for Focus

Blog

The 5 main points of my life until December 21st of 2018

Accomplishing goals requires focus and an ultimate understanding that the focus will result in the goal being accomplished. But this focus is not about what is there as much as it is about what is not. Focus means everything else that is in an image is blurred if even visible. By blurring everything, the focus of the picture rings through. This is something that applies to life many times over, and the more successful the individual is, the better that focus becomes.

My interest in writing about this topic is purely selfish. I want to be able to accomplish all my goals, and go from one goal to the next, where I get to live a life where I am constantly in a state of joyful, or at least stimulus full, flow. I’m a musician, son, brother, boyfriend, bassist, songwriter, producer, singer, guitarist, keyboard player, writer, student, activist, aspiring multi-linguist, photographer, podcaster, self-care practitioner, music critic, videographer, reader, journalist, chef, retired restaurant worker, friend, and listener. But what I really feel like is a huge fucking mess. There are 120 things I would like to be, and because of that, I feel as though I will not be able to accomplish any of them because there just simply is not enough time to do any of these to an exceptional extent if I am attempting to do them all.

So, I’m going to do a warren-esque top five list, but I’m going to set a time frame for myself in order to try it out.

Essentially, I want to create a time frame to have my work done by the 21st of December. I chose this date because it is when my semester is done, the deadline for the mixes on my album is due, right before Christmas, and also just date that looks nice to me (I love the symmetry of 12/21).

List of five things to focus on

-Get straight A’s in school.

-be a good friend

-sleep and exercise

-finish the album

-Keep making money on eBay.

What this means I can not do.

-Watch unrelated videos online.

-Read unrelated articles

-make messes you can’t immediately clean up

-eat out without a purpose

-waste my time watching Netflix

– Watch stupid motivational videos

-make plans to make YouTube videos for channels

-sitting still without working (rest when you sleep, don’t allow people to waste your time)

– spend time watching interviews online

– sitting in bed for prolonged periods of time.

– thinking about writing new albums.

– Spending long periods of time on snap chat. I’m only allowed to do it if I’m talking to Milissa (my girlfriend), or am spending less then 2 minutes addressing something.

– Making 15 cups of tea throughout the day. Get a water bottle, you’ll be fine.

-HASAN MINHAJ DOES NOT CARE IF YOU WATCH HIS VIDEOS.

-Spending long periods of time eating.

-No drinking

– No talking about drinking or smoking with friends. The stories are funny, but a distraction.

– Talking about how other people should be living.

– no spending large chunks of times being sad. Go do pushups instead. Then get back to work.

Warning:

This is going is to suck, and people are not going to like that you are blowing them off. This is a rough truth, and it’s one that I am going to have to accept.
