An example for this would be my 15 part video series of Modern Baseball Covers.
I can break down each individual part of this series into 4 categories.
1) Music, 2) video,3) copy and 4) telling people.
Based on those categories, I can set up a list of questions that can determine the number of actionable items.
1. Music
Is this best done live, or pre-recorded?
If live:
– Does it need any mixing/ editing on the computer to make it easier to hear or to fit an intentional and specific vibe?
– When can the person/ people needed get together to record it?
– If all audio can be collected live, feel free to skip the music step and go straight to video.
If pre-recorded:
+ What is the bpm throughout the song, what is the song form?
+ How many instruments are needed? (answer the following questions for each instrument needed)
– When can the musician record? Can they do it remotely; if not, when can they come in?
– Can the part be played by someone else, Can it be played through midi?
– Do the instruments need to be treated/edited in logic to better serve their function in the song?
– Are the levels ok? Can you hear the softest instruments clearly?
2. Video
+Can a live video be recorded?
If yes…
– How many people are needed in the video? Can a shoot be scheduled?
– Where can a video be recorded? Do we have a reliable source of light that day?
– Any particular vibe you wanna go for?
If no…
– What creative solution can you come up with?
– Does the video need an explanation?
– What shots do you need to make this video? Do you have access to the needed tools, locations, and talent?
+ Editing of the video:
– What is the key part of this video? What is just a cool side thing to add in when it comes up?
– Are their multaple angles of the same shot?
– Are any parts of the footage better left out?
– Are any cuts to the footage timed out to a part of the song?
– Does any additional footage need to be shot with an explanation, reference, or for a funny add on?
– Where will this end project be posted? Can it be adapted to the correct dimensions for that medium?
3. Copy
– What would you like to say to whomever is watching this?
– Is it informative or entertaining? Is it as concise as possible?
– Is it free of grammar and spelling mistakes?
– Is it appropriate for where it is being posted?
4. Telling people
– Can you share it easily on a story?
– Would you share it with friends who might be interested in it?
– Would communities your apart of like to see it? If yes, how can you tell them? If not, please don’t.
